Sport, whatever it may be spikes your nerves and boosts your adrenaline, makes you want to play. Team sports requires agility, fitness and strategy, and is a complete all-round package for those who are playing. But the tension while a game is on is not only on the filed but also on the viewers. The attachment one has to the game is insane and not comparable. Cricket in particular has a world-wide fanbase. “I don’t know cricket, I don’t know how Sachin plays. But I still try to watch him playing because I want to know why my country’s economy goes down 0.5% when he’s batting.” — Barack Obama. This statement says a lot about the viewers. And not only international cricket but domestic cricket has been most awaited by fans too. One such domestic tournament is IPL. For a lot of viewers, it’s not only a game, it’s an emotion.

IPL — has shown how interesting a short format cricket match can be. The uncertainty of certain things, and certainty of certain factors has made the game immensely pleasurable to watch. Who doesn’t love a nail biter match, who doesn’t want to be a dominant team, who doesn’t want to brag about their stats? Whether it is chasing a high score and or defending a low score, one can hope that what they have predicted goes well. When a ball is high up in the air, it may be dropped or may be caught, but one always hopes it’s a catch. We are in the midway of the tournament of this season so far and viewers have kept their eyes on the stats and records. Many tend to follow experts for the predictions. I wonder what might one need to know to predict about a game. Here are few factors which I found to be playing major role in predicting a match in IPL.

· Playing 11 of both teams

· Statistics from the recent matches

· Toss win/Decision

· Pitch report

Viewers do follow these predictions and analyze the game. Even the pre match discussion usually consists of prediction and the post-match discussion consists of the match report and the accuracy of the prediction done for the game. These insights that we get help us understand the game more and makes it more interesting to keep up our enthusiasm alive. No matter how bad or good one’s favorite team performs, the excitement never dies to keep supporting and wait for them to win the match and heart as well.

So, lets wait and watch the rest of the season how it goes. Make sure to keep track of it. Keep predicting, keep enjoying. Rest, if you find “India ka apna mantra” than do let me know about it ;)
